Apparition of Sunlight - Wilt of Roses Crimson

This is a black metal demo that I can only describe as “experimental”, but that truly doesn’t do it justice. This is a beautiful, triumphant sounding foray into unexplored territory within the black metal pantheon, with soaring riffs and beautiful songwriting. Rather than trying to create an uglier, more abrasive sound that one would expect from something labeled as “experimental”, Apparition of Sunlight works to create a sound that is melodic, almost in a heavy metal-esque manner. One of the best demos in recent memory.

Alruna - Silver Dawn

Following hot on the trail of Relieving the Altar, Silver Dawn is a fantastic demo by Alruna, pushing their melancholic and atmospheric style of black metal even further. With beautiful ambient and raw black metal, this demo is a beautiful piece (and hopefully a sign of what’s to come for this incredible project)
